James Aiken
Pro Bono Legal Officer
James is a Pro Bono Legal Officer responsible for the pro bono broker service to bring our legal partners together with development partners, touching upon a range of legal issues across a wide variety of jurisdictions. Prior to joining A4ID, James worked in legal and policy positions across a number of UK human rights organisations at various levels – from volunteer to board of directors – and, in doing, built a wealth of first-hand experience of the needs of an NGO. This has included time both organising and working at pro bono legal clinics, providing targeted legal training for grassroots organisations, and coordinating pro bono support for protestors.
James is a qualified solicitor (non-practising) in England and Wales after training at Irwin Mitchell. His professional legal background is in litigation. He also holds a BA (Hons) in Philosophy from the University of Exeter, and an LLM from the University of Law.
