Beth Hermaszewska
Learning & Development Volunteer

Beth works with the Learning & Development Team to assist with the Law and Development Training Programme and the development of A4ID publications and events. Attracted by the role’s focus on volunteer learning, Beth hopes to develop her knowledge around the Sustainable Development Goals and how the law can help to achieve them. In addition, she seeks to better understand how long term partnerships between the legal sector and international development organisations can achieve positive and sustainable development outcomes.

Beth recently graduated from St Catharine’s College, Cambridge with a BA Hons in Human, Social and Political Sciences (Sociology). During her time at university Beth volunteered with the Citizens Advice Bureau and chaired Cambridge Hub, an umbrella organisation for the university’s local and international charity work. Her studies focused on racism, social movements, religious contention and environmental issues.

Following her work with A4ID, Beth will be joining the British Institute of East Africa to complete a graduate research placement in Kenya. She will be conducting a qualitative research project on recent Black Lives Matter protests in Nairobi and their connections to Kenya’s colonial history.
