Abshir Weli
ROLE UK Programme Coordinator

Abshir Weli is the ROLE UK Programme Coordinator at A4ID, responsible for facilitating international partnerships and assignments and supporting the delivery of knowledge hub and coordination activities.

Prior to A4ID, Abshir was a Project Officer for the London Sustainability Exchange, managing community resilience projects designed to alleviate fuel poverty and protect local eco-systems. Specialising in the political economy of institutions and sustainable development, Abshir previously worked with the Natural Resource Governance Institute and as an Analyst advising the Somali Federal Government in their National Development Plan. He is an avid campaigner with experience volunteering for anti-corruption think tank Global Witness, Barnardo’s and Oxfam GB.

Abshir holds a BA in International Relations from the University of Leicester and an MSC in International Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).
