CEO Yasmin Batliwala comments on new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Following the formal introduction of the Sustainable Development Goals at the UN Sustainable Development Summit, Yasmin Batliwala, CEO of Advocates for International Development (A4ID) said:

“The formal adoption of the sustainable development goals could not come soon enough. Although the millennium development goals helped us to focus on some of the key challenges our world faces, it is time for a broader and more collaborative approach to growth and development.

“The role of the law is  essential to that collaboration; these global commitments must be backed up by laws which enforce them. It is therefore not only important, but necessary, for the legal community to engage fully with the global goals and lend much-needed expertise to their successful implementation.”
