A4ID is proud to announce that our Chief Executive, Yasmin Batliwala, has been honoured with an MBE in the Queen’s 2022 New Year Honours List for her services in the area of Human Rights, Rule of Law and International Development.
Yasmin has led the A4ID team in inspiring the legal profession to play their role in eradicating poverty and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals across the globe.
Yasmin comments, “I am immensely proud to have received an MBE. This represents a significant validation and recognition of the persistent determination and sheer hard work of the A4ID staff over the years. The Honour will help to further establish A4ID’s position as a leader of legal pro bono activity aimed at achieving the SDGs. This has been made possible by the amazing dedication of the A4ID team, its Board, and our magnificent Legal and Development Partners – working together with us in striving to meet the needs of the world’s poorest citizens.”
As A4ID continues to works tirelessly with our legal and development partners towards achieving the SDGs by 2030, Yasmin’s leadership is the heart of the organisation. She leads the charge in engaging both the legal and development communities to join us on our mission to inspire and enable lawyers to join the global fight against poverty, and to ensure that legal support is available for those engaged in that fight.
With dedicated teams spanning the UK, South Asia and Africa, A4ID has a powerful global reach that has developed across the years. A4ID will continue to work as a catalyst for change: partnering with legal professionals, NGOs, country governments and civil society groups to deliver life-changing pro bono advice, inspire change in the rule of law, advocate for human rights and support international development.
