700 development organisations eligible for pro bono legal advice

A4ID is delighted to announce that we are now working with 700 development partners around the world.

We have been partnering organisations fighting against poverty, injustice and inequality for over 10 years and have brokered the best legal advice, all free of charge, which has impacted 123 countries worldwide. Our work has supported organisations as varied as Médecins Sans Frontières, Anti-Slavery International and the Fairtrade Foundation, tackling all issues impacting on developing countries.

Chief Executive of A4ID, Yasmin Batliwala stated “our focus is to work with organisations who are contributing towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals which provides us with a huge remit and means we can assist even more organisations than ever before”.

Our 700th development partner is Bridges to Prosperity, a global charity taking a proactive step in preventing poverty caused by rural isolation. Bridges to Prosperity provide access to healthcare, education and markets by teaching communities how to build footbridges over impassable rivers. To date, the charity has constructed over 200 footbridges in 20 countries, serving nearly one million people.

“Bridges are an invaluable mechanism to connect people and ideas in bringing about progress. Bridges to Prosperity links people living in poverty to opportunities and resources just as A4ID builds bridges between NGO and legal communities in the fight against poverty. The new partnership between A4ID and B2P perfectly captures the way forward in global development” commented Joe Tan, Deputy Head of Partnerships and Legal Services.
