ROLE UK Programme Volunteer

Uwati works as part of the ROLE UK team to facilitate the establishment and maintenance of partnerships between development stakeholders and legal practitioners. Having recently completed her masters in Global Governance and Ethics at UCL, Uwati joined A4ID in order to operationalise the interests and academic experience that she gained, particularly regarding the role that the rule of law plays in upholding human rights internationally.

Prior to joining A4ID, Uwati held several positions working within her local community with charities such as Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults (SOVA) and the Challenge. She has also undertaken research projects concerning how the rule of law impacts social mobility in vulnerable communities in Nigeria and how governance mechanisms can be reformed in order to secure adequate protection for resettled communities in Ethiopia’s Villagisation programmes.

Her main interests are forced migration and internal displacement, development-induced displacement policy, and international human rights governance, which she hopes to pursue alongside journalism.
