Learning and Development Manager
Toby is the Learning and Development Manager at A4ID and is responsible for designing and delivering A4IDs training activities, Knowledge Groups and learning resources. Toby is a human rights lawyer with a range of experience in domestic, regional and international human rights courts and is an experienced human rights trainer.
Prior to A4ID, Toby was an Associate Legal Officer for the Open Society Justice Initiative. He has worked as a lawyer on cases at the European Court of Human Rights, the United Nations Human Rights Committee, the International Criminal Court, the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. Prior to this Toby worked for Mansfield College, University of Oxford to develop the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights; project managed access to justice projects in Malawi; and was a researcher for a member of UK parliament. In a previous life, has was a commercial lawyer in Australia, and clerked at the New South Wales Court of Appeal.
Toby has delivered training on behalf of the Open Society Justice Initiative in Budapest, the OSCE in Kazakhstan, the Slynn Foundation in Albania, and Legal Aid Malawi in Malawi.
Toby is qualified as a solicitor in New South Wales, Australia and received the BCL (equivalent to LLM) from the University of Oxford and an LLB and a BA from Macquarie University, Sydney.
