Serena Brown


Serena leads KPMG’s Global Development Initiative, under the directorship of Lord Hastings of Scarisbrick CBE, Global Head of Citizenship. The Global Development Initiative applies KPMG’s skills to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. Working alongside governments, civil society groups, international agencies and other private sector organisations, KPMG becomes fully involved in finding effective and sustainable solutions to global and local poverty issues.

Serena qualified with KPMG as a Chartered Accountant and spent ten years providing audit and advisory services to listed insurance conglomerates in the UK, Australia, Hong Kong and Laos.

Subsequently Serena applied her professional skills to a career in international development. Her previous roles have included Chief Executive of Trade Aid in Tanzania, Country Director for Tearfund in South Sudan, Chair of the South Sudan NGO Forum Steering Committee, and Change Manager for Save the Children’s Unified Presence initiative in Cote D’Ivoire.

Serena is currently completing a Masters in International Development.
